Demonstration

Formed in 2019, SUNAMI are a new beatdown hardcore band from San Jose, California featuring members of Hands of God and Spinebreaker. Their demo is released on CD-R by DSR. For physical formats, this release and the edition from California’s Viewpoint Records are the only versions available. The name SUNAMI is obviously a play on the word “tsunami,” which made us hesitate for a second — but the music itself is pure early moshcore in the vein of Animosity, and it absolutely rules. Pinch harmonics and slamming sections are mixed into the sound, giving it plenty that should connect with Japanese hardcore kids as well. Being a demo, the production is still rough around the edges, but that only makes the band’s potential more exciting. Guest vocals feature members of Hands of God, Gulch and Spinebreaker. 4 tracks. Slim case.
