SPLITKNUCKLE!! The latest mini-album from SPLITKNUCKLE, Essex, UK’s premier moshcore force, is released on CD through DSR. Their previous material came out through Rage Records but had limited distribution and was difficult to obtain. This release was also originally issued only on LP in the UK through The Coming Strife Records, but after discussions with the members, a CD edition finally became possible. Bassist Joey recently visited Japan as the bassist of NIHILITY, although SPLITKNUCKLE is in fact his main band. Guitarist Liam and bassist Larry are also the twin guitarists of NIHILITY, making this release a direct result of the KRUELTY × NIHILITY friendship. The members openly cite UK staples Six Ft Ditch, Special Move, BDF and Ninebar as influences, and the result is a devastating blend of beatdown and edge metal. Razor-sharp riffing and varied vocal work give it the feel of a classic LBU band. It is not limited to single-note riffs and beatdowns either — even clean sections appear, and the level of songwriting is absurdly high. Vocalist Joey is a devoted fan of fellow Essex band Raiden, which may explain part of his vocal approach.
