The latest 2019 promo from Massachusetts death metal band Mourned is released on CD through DSR. Although Mourned are a death metal band, they are primarily active within the hardcore scene and are currently developing at a rapid pace. Their 2017 EP disappeared immediately when we carried it, which led directly to this release. The band is considering a full-length in the future, and these songs make that prospect extremely exciting. Their earlier EP had a fairly modern sound, but this time — production included — they move freely between old-school death metal and hardcore with excellent results. The balance between tight mosh sections and dragging riffs is especially strong. Recording was done at the legendary GodCity, while mixing and mastering were handled by in-demand producer Arthur Rizk. The quality speaks for itself. Includes the four tracks from the Rift Ripper EP as bonus material, for a total of 6 tracks. Slim case. Limited to 100 copies.
